A message from Sergeant John Killick
Thank you for everyone who attended the Community Priority Setting Meetings the team and I have held over the last couple of weeks.
From the discussions at those meetings as well as reviewing crime and ASB data as well as reviewing the Have Your Say Surveys a new community priority has been decided upon, which will come into effect as of Tuesday 1st February that will run until the end of April.
Speeding Priority Final Update
From October to January, the Community Priority has been Speed Enforcement for the Bedford Rural Community Policing Team. During this time, the team have completed targeted enforcement work at locations identified by both our own data and reports from the Community.
The team have completed approximately 80 sessions of enforcement activity and checked over four thousand vehicles. A total of 115 vehicles were found to be driving in excess of the limit and Traffic Offence Reports were issued to 19 drivers.
February – April 2022 – New Priority
From February 2022, we will be taking on a new priority.
We have reviewed the “Have Your Say” survey data that has been submitted to us by members of the community and held three public meetings to enable us to hear as many views as possible on what our new priority should be for the next 3 months.
The overwhelming theme throughout this relates to vehicles, in particular, crime against vehicles and anti-social use of vehicles. With this in mind, our new priority is:
Motor Vehicles – Crime and Anti-social use.
★ Crime: Theft from Motor Vehicles, Theft of Motor Vehicles, Interference with Motor Vehicles.
★ Anti-social use: school parking, targeted speeding activity at identified repeat offence locations, racing, noise, associated drug use
You will be able to keep up with the activity the team are completing via our Facebook Page – “North Bedfordshire Rural Community Policing” and I have no doubt that you will see the team out and about across the area, conducting work on this priority over the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their view with us and took part in the priority setting process.
Please remember to report incidents to us using 101 or Report (bedfordshire.police.uk). In an emergency, always call 999.
